Tabitha is based in rural North Shropshire creating glasswork using an ancient technique called Pate de Verre, literally glass paste
Small pieces of glass known as frit are mixed to a paste and carefully arranged in a mould. Precise kiln firing temperatures slowly heat the work until the frit has fused together. The final objects have a beautifully crystallised quality which can be admired in their own right, or juxtaposed and combined with turned and polished wood. These individual and unique pieces delight with their complementary textures, forms, and multiple hues.
Tabitha takes inspiration from the
natural
processes of formation and erosion
in rock, minerals, and
the
natural landscape.
Plates and Bowls have form and function and incorporate the same skill and beauty as the sculptural work.
These pieces can be used to display and enhance your own treasured items, at home as jewellery holders or dinner table centrepieces they add a new dimension to any space.
